I Will Not Be Getting And iPhone Today

It looks like July 11th, 2008 is upon us and the Apple iPhone has been released into the wild in Canada.

I won't be buying one. I would like to own this device but I do not agree with Rogers and their business practice. So, in your face Rogers - no iPhones here. I am going to wait for Google Android powered phones and use their touch screen interface phone for my communication needs.

Here is the Member of Parliament, David McGuinty to tell us about what he is doing about the cellular business in Canada. It is amazing what a little protesting can do. (Huh? What'd you say, Rogers? Huh? Pardon? Punk.)

It has been reported to me that a bunch of people have been forming lines outside of Rogers and Fido stores in Canada but less than ten or
so per store. Just think of the numbers if Rogers had created some data plans that we Canadians could stomach.

About Me

Shane BirleyMy name is Shane Birley and I am a creative guy with a technical background and a literature degree. How weird is that, huh? I am best described as a technologist or a nerd. In January 2006, I helped to found Left Right Minds a web development and creative company in Vancouver, British Columbia. I co-authored the last three editions of Blogging For Dummies. I run a theatre review magazine called Plank Magazine and co-founded the Neanderthal Arts Festival. More recently, I have been podcasting my brains out and trying to keep from going insane.
